Google Energy shows Activity

Google recently signed a deal with Story II Wind Energy.  The 20 year contract states Google will buy 114 megawatts per month from the wind farm.  This will allow Google to offset its carbon footprint.

Their was a great deal of speculation as to why Google would need a license to buy and sell energy.  The speculation has been settled as it appears Google wants to support wind farms directly instead of having to go through local power companies.

In my opinion Google should build it's own distribution lines underground in the United States and provide their Google Internet Services through it's conduits using fiber.
